In order to become an armed security guard in Michigan, applicants looking for their guard card must:
- be 21 years or older
- be a U.S. citizen or registered resident alien
- hold a Michigan state driver’s license
- have a high school diploma or equivalent
- have not been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony in the following categories: impersonation of a government official or law officer, fraud, illegal use or possession of a weapon, illegal possession of a controlled substance under the public health code 1978 PA 368, convicted of two or more alcohol-related abuses, or convicted of assault
