Private security officers wishing to carry weapons in Georgia must be registered with a state certified security company. To apply for armed Guard Card referred to as Blue Card, you must successfully complete at least 24 hours of security training through a state certified facility or instructor. In addition you will need to complete 16 hours firearms course. These courses need to meet or exceed the Mandated State of Georgia certification requirements for Board Rules 509-3-10 and 11 for Armed Security Officers. 

Other essential requirements for armed guard card:
• You must be a US citizen or a registered resident alien of at least 21 years of age
• Have a high school diploma or its equivalent
• You must be a person of good moral character
• You must not have committed a felony or any crime involving firearms or acts of fraud.
